Education and Outreach Intern
The Education and Outreach Internship is an exciting opportunity for students with a background in marine biology, conservation, education or a related program who are interested in engaging with community members to bring awareness of SR3 and educate about local marine wildlife. This position works with our Communication Specialist to lead programs surrounding marine mammal stewardship and inspire folks to take marine conservation actions.

Position Overview
The Education and Outreach Intern will:
Engage with the public at community and outreach events, promoting SR3 and inspiring marine conservation
Lead solo and volunteer-based beach education to promote marine mammal stewardship
Assist with the maintenance and inventory of educational materials
Assist with fundraising events as needed
Assist with administrative tasks as requested
Assist Communications Specialist in training and supporting outreach volunteers
Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Intern
The Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Internship is an exciting opportunity for students with a background in marine biology, conservation, education or a related program who are interested in gaining experience and knowledge as an animal care intern, and learning about the behavior, rescue and rehabilitation of marine mammals. This position works with our animal care and veterinary staff and SR3’s animal husbandry volunteers to provide care for our patients, which primarily consists of harbor seals.
Due to the seasonal nature of our patients, our Internships are available from June through November. Each internship opportunity may vary slightly depending upon our patient load and what opportunities are available.

Position Overview
The Marine Mammal Rehabilitation Intern position includes providing primary care of stranded marine mammals, assisting with post-mortem examinations, developing and conducting a marine mammal research project, medical record keeping, and the possibility of some field work and response. This is a two to three month long, full-time, unpaid position. Housing is not available and the intern is responsible for having reliable transportation.
