Alexandra Vanderzee has been with SR³ since 2021 as a research associate, focusing on photo identification projects involving Antarctic killer whales and bottlenose dolphins. She has worked in the research realm for 11 years on projects related to the movement, distribution and sighting histories of humpback whales, blue whales, pilot whales, rough-toothed dolphins and Risso’s dolphins.
Alex has participated in field efforts over the years, including line transect surveys, opportunistic surveys, SOCAL Behavioral Response Study (BRS) and Tagless BRS, and Shipstrike surveys. Her side passions include birding, wildlife photography, kayaking and running.
